Coteau – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 pm, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, in Coteau, for Kris Jude Viator, 54, who passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue Wednesday, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening.
A native and lifelong area resident, Kris was born on November 1, 1969, to the late Reggie and Jan Babin Viator. He was a 1987 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School, where he played baseball. During his senior year, he was selected as a catcher to the All District and All State Baseball Teams. He was also selected to the All Tournament Team, during the 1987 State Baseball Championship Tournament. After graduation, Kris attended McNeese State University on a baseball scholarship. He then attended USL, now the University of Louisiana Lafayette, and was a graduate of Penn State University. Kris was a hitting and catching coach at New Iberia Senior High School for three years and gave private lessons for 17 years.
An avid golfer, Kris loved baseball, going on family vacations, and making everyone laugh. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, in Coteau, where he served on the Pastoral Council, and was also a member of the Cane Row Golf and Turf Club, where he tied the course record with a score of 62.
Kris was an extremely loving, caring, and thoughtful person. He loved his family deeply and cherished spending time with them. May his memory be a blessing.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Misty Arcement Viator; daughters, Samantha Claire Viator and Emily Ann Viator; brother, John Viator (Lori); nieces and nephews, Skyla Bourque Lierman (Josh), Jed Viator (Candi), Keagan Bourque (Taylor), Kaylan Bourque Escuriex (Zach), Jade Viator, Connor Viator, Caroline Viator Robichaux (Samuel), Hunter Arcement, Cody Gary, Victoria Gary (Zane Viator), and Keri Gary; brother-in-law, Paul Bourque; mother-in-law, Mona Thibodeaux Cormier; father-in-law, Jerry Arcement (Susan); sister-in-law, January Arcement Gary; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Kris was preceded in death by his sister, Dina Viator Bourque.
Pallbearers will be Keagan Bourque, Connor Viator, Jed Viator, Kevin Bienvenue, Todd Migues, and Casey Fremin.
Honorary pallbearers include John Viator, Ryan Boutte, and Paul Bourque. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
