Kristie Lee Huber

Kristie Lee Huber, 73 of Fremont, OH died Monday, September 15, 2025 at Valley View Nursing Home. She was born January 15, 1952 in Fremont, OH to the late Dean and Florence (Myrman) Decker. She was a 1970 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and worked in the medical field, retiring as clerical staff for Dr. Akins in Port Clinton, OH.
Kristie was the first of four children sharing a lifelong bond with her siblings-her sisters Lori (Greg) Kryder, Deanna (Dave) Root and her brother David (Lilly) Decker. Along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her.
She was the devoted mother of two children, Jennie and Merritt, whom she shared with Merritt "Stan" Huber, who preceded her in death in 2012. Jennie and her husband Brian Buchanan blessed Kristie with three grandchildren– Brooke, Austin and Beau. Merritt and his wife Deanna gave her two more grandchildren, Declan and Rowan. Being "Nonnie" was one of her greatest joys. She shared many years of love and companionship with her cat Ellie and her cherished partner, Frank Shimmel, preceding her in death this year.
She was intelligent, strong-willed and passionate about many things. She lived life on her own terms with an independence and spirit that inspired those around her. She will be remembered for the deep love she gave to her family and the way she made those she cared for feel truly seen and valued.
Visitation will be 11am – 1pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH 43440. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Township.
