LaFae Anderson Pyne
May 18, 1935 – August 23, 2025
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, LaFae Anderson Pyne, peacefully passed away in her home on August 23, 2025, at the age of 90. Born to Madeline Losser and Lester Anderson in Provo, Utah, LaFae's life was marked by love, service, and dedication to family and community.
A graduate of Provo High School in 1953, and went on to further her education at BYU where she studied business. A lifelong learner, she valued education deeply and found great joy in getting lost in a good book. LaFae married her high school sweetheart, Gary Orland Pyne, on September 1, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built a life full of love and memories, raising their family in the home they cherished on Grandview Hill in Provo, where they lived for over six decades.
LaFae devoted 25 years of her career to Dixon Middle School, where she served as both a lunch worker and secretary, forging lasting friendships and contributing to the school's sense of
community. Her work was not just a job, but a passion.
A talented homemaker, LaFae's greatest joy was in creating memories through her culinary gifts, especially her sweet treats, which she shared generously with those she loved. She was also a gifted quilter, spending hours crafting beautiful quilts for family and friends.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaFae served in many capacities, including in the Primary and Relief Society Presidencies. Her selfless service and unwavering faith were an example to all who knew her.
LaFae and Gary shared a profound love for the outdoors, spending countless hours together exploring nature and creating memories at their cherished Cabin in the Pynes with their growing family. Their adventures with the Good Sam's Traveling Club took them on journeys across the country, where they not only discovered new places but also forged lifelong friendships and made unforgettable memories.
LaFae is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Pyne, their children: Jeffery Pyne (Teri) of American Fork, and Julie Francis (Wendell) of Pleasant Grove and Aaron Begay of Chilchinbeto Arizona. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride of her life. LaFae is also survived by her sister, Sue Remkes (Pete) of Elk Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son John Steven Pyne, great-grandchild Kelton Ryan Armstrong, her sister Veva Harmon (Dell), and her brothers Gary Lee Anderson and Keith Anderson (Merta).
LaFae's legacy is one of love, service, and kindness. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday September 2nd, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Grandview Stake Center, 122 Grand Avenue, Provo Utah with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment Provo City Cemetery.
