Lanny Ray Stone, age 70, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 2, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Saturday, April 26, 1955, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of Virgie Evans Stone of Vanceburg, Kentucky and the late Denny Stone.
Lanny was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to auctions, yard sales, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, friends and church family.
He was a loving husband, devoted father/papa, and a loyal friend whose quiet strength and generous spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He led by example, teaching the values of hard work, honesty, and compassion not through words, but through the life he lived every day. Whether he was offering a helping hand, sharing a story, or simply being there when it mattered most; he showed love in all the ways that truly count. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the kindness he shared, and the family he cherished above all else. His family will miss him dearly, but know one day they will see him again. We will love him always!
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ashley Stone; two brothers, Gregory Stone and Alan Duane Stone.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marilyn Owens Stone; one son, Brad (Stacy) Stone of Garrison, Kentucky; two daughters, Tiffany Crockett of Lexington, Kentucky, Mary Mancuso of Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Lyndsey, Keegan, Ethan, Bryan, Madison, Ryland, Britton, Bailey, Bentley, Braylen; four great-grandchildren, Kayson, Mia, Eloise and Charlotte; one brother, Darrell (Chastity) Stone of Vanceburg, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Brother Edison Buchanan and Brother Brad Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Family Cemetery, on Brook Lane, Vanceburg, Kentucky.
