Larry Joesph Martinez of Espanola, New Mexico, was born on July 26, 1950 in Alamosa, Colorado and passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Larry graduated from Espanola High School, received a Bachelor of Education & Art from Adams State University and a Masters degree in Education from Highlands University.
Larry was a dedicated educator for Espanola Public Schools for 25 years teaching at Ohkay Owingeh, Fairview Elementary, Chimayo Elementary and Sombrillo Elementary. He also volunteered to coach football and basketball. Larry mentored young adults encouraging them to obtain their GED’s from Northern New Mexico Community College where he taught for four years.
Larry is proceeded in death by his mother Mary Aguilar, sister Christine Evers, bother David Aguilar and nephew Lee Miguel Jauquez
Larry is survived by his loving wife of forty- one years Priscilla Martinez; Stepdaughter Dolores Gallegos (Billy); Stepson Eric Lopez (Adrianna); Granddaughters Kandice Gallegos; Kassie Garcia (Lionel); Mia Gonzales; Sister Virgina Abby; Nieces Angel Jauquez; Annica Abby; Jennifer Aguilar and Evita Evers; Nephew Diego Evers.
Larry will always be remembered through his beautiful paintings and drawings. He loved music and dancing, which he took pleasure in until the very end.
