Larry Roy Moreau, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Kyle, Texas, on July 10, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 7, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Larry was a man of immense creativity, warmth, and an ever-present sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.
The son of the late Everett and Stella Moreau and brother to the late Everett Paul (Sonny) Moreau. After graduating from Edison High School in 1964, Larry embarked on a fulfilling career as a carpenter and wood carver, a profession that perfectly suited his artistic talents.
Larry married Evelyn Rose Calle, the love of his life, in 1965. Their loving partnership spanned 58 years, resulting in a beautiful family that includes their son, Bruce W. Moreau, and daughter, Wendy D. Moreau. He also welcomed his daughter-in-law, Kimberly L. Moreau, and son-in-law, David J. Mullins, into the family with open arms. Larry's role as a grandfather to Zachary R. Mullins was one he cherished deeply, sharing his wisdom, humor, and love of life with the next generation. Larry also leaves behind his sister-in-law Margie Lassiter, brother-in-law Bill Calle and his wife Ellen and brother-in-law Dan Mackey. His spark will also be greatly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and the most wonderful and helpful neighbors. Larry also made many great friends at the Onion Creek Senior Center in Buda, Texas, where he was a member.
Larry's creativity extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid woodworker, spending countless hours crafting beautiful pieces that will serve as a lasting legacy of his talent. His love for garage sales was well-known among his friends and family, as he had a keen eye for spotting hidden treasures. Larry was also an enthusiastic navigator, always ready with last-minute directions.
Fishing and camping were among Larry's favorite pastimes, activities that allowed him to enjoy the beauty of nature while spending quality time with his loved ones. His friendly demeanor and quick wit made him a joy to be around.
Larry Roy Moreau will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but also for the way he lived his life. His infectious laughter, his innovative spirit, and his unwavering love for his family will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Larry's life was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and a positive outlook, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In the end, Larry's life was not defined by his battle with cancer, but rather by the joy, love, and laughter he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the beautiful pieces he crafted, the stories he told, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Larry Roy Moreau was truly one of a kind, and he will be deeply missed.
