Laura Webb Byrd died unexpectedly on November 4, 2024, in Ft. Valley, Georgia, where she grew up. She was born in Macon, Georgia on February 3, 1954, and was one of five children of the late Dr. Willis L. Webb, Jr. and late Evelin "Evelyn" Huffman Webb of Ft. Valley. Laura attended Fort Valley High School and graduated from Beechwood High School in Marshallville, Georgia in 1972. She was an amazing pianist with natural born talent, which helped her win the "Miss Beechwood" title in the Beechwood High School beauty and talent pageant. She graduated with a Home Economics degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA in 1976. Laura put her creative flair into everything she did. She was a talented seamstress and had a knack for home design and decor. She began her working career with Ethan Allen in Macon as an interior designer and later taught interior design at Bauder Fashion College in Atlanta (Buckhead), Georgia. Later she joined The Georgia Lottery during its inception in 1993, and worked as a Corporate Accounts Executive for 27 years until she retired in 2020. Laura was a "cat lady" and loved her feline children. She was a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and Fort Valley Study Club. She was the "life" of the party and always brought her southern charm and wit with her wherever she went. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Willis L. Webb, Jr., and sister Phyllis W. Nabors. Laura was survived by her brother Gregory B. Webb and wife Marsha P. Webb of Sandy Springs, GA; sister Nancy W. Potter of Lexington, KY; sister Regina W. "Beanie" MacDonald and husband John MacDonald of Asheville, NC; and niece, Shana W. Pasas and husband John A. Pasas of Franklin, TN; niece Lollie N. Buckellew and husband Alex Buckellew of Dahlonega, GA; niece Ashton P. Wright of Lexington, KY; great nephews Potter Wright, Miller Wright and Wheeler Wright; and great niece Elliana Pasas. The Family requests donations be made to Humane Society of Houston County, website www.humanesocietyhoco.org (select "Donate" and type "In Memory of Laura W. Byrd" name in Note/Memo section), P.O. Box 9588, Warner Robins, GA 31095, (478) 599-0211, email: [email protected], in lieu of flowers. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date to be determined.

I have thought about you every day since you departed. Remembering dancing around the piano while you played Boogie Woogie, the booger box, trying on new clothes bought at Rich's in Atlanta, arguing about washing & drying the dayum dishes, sneaking out, laughing non stop, a sip or two, and just enjoying life. It's not the same without you. Giver her eternal life O Lord and may her light shine on forever!

The memories of you will be forever cherished. You were always a loving and kind soul. Thank you for the support, words of wisdom, and love you gave me and my family my entire life. I know you are alongside your parents, Mrs. and Mr. Webb who I so loved and miss too. I will always hold the purse you gifted me over 20 years ago close as I do the last tube of lip stick your mother gave me the Christmas before her passing. Love you Ms. Laura. Thank you for always loving me and my boys and my parents and siblings . Thank you for the many holidays spent with you and you´re truly missed. May God be with you and your family.
