LeRoy, of Brookfield, found peace on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Judy for almost 57 years. Preceded in death by his parents August and Agnes Schmidt. Loving father of Dawn Stoughton, Debra Schmidt and Susan (Tom) Dwyer. Proud grandpa of Andy (Kelsey), Lisa, Emily (Tucker), Shannon and Kieran. Great-grandfather of Remi. Dear brother of Marie (the late Fergal) Gallagher, Marilyn (Dick) Musser, the late Bernard (the late Donna) Schmidt, Bill (Beth) Schmidt and the late Carl Schmidt. LeRoy is also loved and will be missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
LeRoy graduated from the University of Iowa in 1963 and continued his love for the Hawkeyes his whole life. As a Certified Public Accountant with Deloitte and Touche and Executive Director of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA), LeRoy worked with numerous committees and organizations supporting the education and promotion of the accounting profession. The Schmidt family wishes to thank Visiting Angels, Auberge of Brookfield Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care and support.
There will be a gathering on Thursday, July 14, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, at St. John Vianney Catholic Parish, 1755 N. Calhoun Rd., Brookfield. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM. Private interment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, St. John Vianney Church or the WICPA Education Foundation which supports the YES (Young Entrepreneurial Scholars) program. Memorials for WICPA made be mailed to:
