Lester Sprenger Obituary

Lester Dale Henry Sprenger left this earth and entered into the arms of his heavenly Savior on January 24th, 2025 at the age of ninety in Lakewood, Colorado.

Lester was born at home near Lincoln Valley, North Dakota on July 24, 1934. He graduated from high school in Drake, North Dakota, followed by two years at the University of North Dakota. He then spent two years in the Army and returned to college at North Dakota State University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Lester married Eileen Nibbe in 1959 in Fargo, North Dakota, and would eventually have four children, Keith, Kathleen, Mike and Andy. Les and Eileen moved to Walla Walla, Washington in 1959 where Les worked with the Army Corp of Engineers for nine years.

In 1967 they moved to Lakewood, Colorado where Lester worked for the Environmental Protection Agency for twenty-three years.

In July of 1967 Lester and his family began attending a recent church plant, Southern Gables Evangelical Free Church (now called Southwest Community Church). Lester’s faith in Christ was the most important thing to him, and he diligently demonstrated that throughout his life.

Lester participated in sports activities in high school and his Army years, and was an enthusiastic and loyal supporter of his three sons in their high school and college sports. He was also very supportive of Kathleen in her accomplishments as an excellent violin player.

Lester is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Eileen, three sons and one daughter, fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Harley and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Sharon.
