Linda Swanson
May 15, 1942 – Oct. 11, 2024
Linda Lee (Stafford) Swanson, age 82 of Greybull, Wyoming, passed away Oct. 11 at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 15, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas to L.V. "Neal" and Geraldine "Jerry" (Mickey) Stafford. Linda spent her early life in Linch, Wyoming. Her family later moved to Buffalo. She graduated with the class of 1960 from Johnson County High School and attended the University of Wyoming. She married James R. Moore of Midwest in December 1960. They made their home on the Moore Ranch on the Dry Fork of Powder River where they raised their four children. Linda was an amazing homemaker. Home-cooked meals, baked goods, gardening, and canning were a part of everyday life. And when she wasn't at home she could be found working outside on horseback with the rest of the crew. Her passion was horses. She spent a lifetime learning to understand, train, show snaffle bit horses, and ride, for as long as she was able.
On July 10, 2003, she married Dr. Norman R. Swanson of Cheyenne, assisting him in his veterinary practice until his retirement. She was a CASA volunteer, a member of the Bishop's Guild and parishioner at St. Mary's Cathedral. She loved to play golf and pickleball and medaled in both sports in the Wyoming Senior Olympics. Norm and Linda continued to make their home in Cheyenne until the time of his death in 2022. She then moved to Shell, Wyoming, where she easily made many new friends. Her last year was spent living on the Diamond Tail Ranch to be closer to family. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Bob Holt, brother Mike Stafford, stepbrother Jim Holt, son Mark Moore and grandson Colby Ward. She is survived by her brother Scott (Caryl) Stafford; her daughters, Jamie (Tim) Flitner, Lisa (Tim) Ward and her son, Tom (Jacki) Moore; as well as seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and countless friends.
A rosary vigil for Linda will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes 1900 E 19th Street, Cheyenne. Her funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cheyenne. Graveside services will be held at Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo on May 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A rosary and celebration of Linda's life will also be held at Sacred Heart Parish in Greybull and the Shell Bar, respectively. Memorial contributions may be made in Linda's name to St. Joseph's Children's Home, Torrington, Wyoming; Sacred Heart Church in Greybull; or, Midway Golf Course, Basin, Wyoming.
