Lloyd Ben "LB" Brittingham, Jr., age 61, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Raised in Powellville, he was the son of Alice Brittingham (Hammond) and the late Lloyd Ben Brittingham, Sr.
LB grew up on the farm, raising everything from pigs to chickens, and growing row crops with his Dad. His love for machinery, turned into a passion for building trucks, cars, hot rods- anything with a motor. LB was known for his talent of turning rust into riches, with his creations tearing up the roads from the Eastern Shore all the way to Australia and Sweden.
However, it was more than fast cars or big blocks built in "LBs Rod Shop." Customers turned into friends, and friendships grew into a lasting shop family. Many visited the shop daily to either sit on a stool for an hour (or two), scope out the latest project, or get their own hands dirty to help drop a motor into the frame. No one ever quite knew what LB was thinking, but his creative mind was always at work.
While the community may have recognized his talents at a car show or parade, his family was blessed by him as a loving husband, father, "Pop", son, son-in-law, uncle, or cousin. To his wife- he was her everything, to his daughters- he was their laughter and quiet comfort, and to his grandkids- he was "Pop"- bigger than life and their best friend. The hole he has left behind is large, but we have peace knowing that we will see him again.
LB is survived by his wife, Joanie Brittingham, two daughters, Emily Thornes (Ryan), and Olivia Pruitt (Joel), and three grandchildren, Roland Thornes, Nellie Thornes, and Rhett Pruitt who lovingly called him "Pop." In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Paige Workman (Jeff), and Susan Marshall (Tom), his father-in law, Robert Jackson, his mother-in-law, Shirley Jackson, a sister-in-law, Carol Morris (Danny), two brothers-in-law, Paul Jackson (Danielle), and Andy Jackson (Kristin), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 12:00PM, at Calvary Baptist Church, 337 Tilghman Rd. Salisbury, MD. A visitation will take place from 11:00 12:00. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Willards. Letters of condolence can be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of The Burbage Funeral Home.
