Lori Ann Popp Moss, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025.

Lori’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 40 years, Gary; her sons, Ethan (Rachel Pearlman) Moss and Mark (Dana) Moss; and her adored grandchildren, Leora, Noa, Cooper, and Hudson Moss. She is also survived by her mother, Susan Popp; her sister, Beth (Abshalom Meiri) Popp; her brother in-law, Steve (Shelli) Moss; special friend, Salathiel Parker; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Lori was preceded in death by her beloved father, Ronald Popp; her in-laws, Richard and Ruth Moss; her sister, Amy Popp; and her precious granddaughter, Ruby Moss.

A lifelong Indianapolis resident, Lori was a proud graduate of North Central High School (Class of 1977) and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Indiana University. Her life’s work reflected deep compassion, strategic vision, and an unwavering commitment to improving lives.

As Executive Director of Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Lori transformed the agency from one focused solely on older adults to one that serves individuals and families across the lifespan—a model that has since been replicated by Jewish communities across the country. She opened Popsie’s Pantry in 2010, providing food and dignity to thousands of individuals and families facing food insecurity. She also launched the Kavod program, the nation’s first federally funded grant specifically designed to support Holocaust Survivors, ensuring they could live with comfort, dignity, and care in their later years. Lori also led the successful grant effort to create NORC, a community-based initiative supporting older adults aging in place.

Over the years, Lori’s visionary leadership was recognized with some of the Jewish community’s most meaningful honors. She leaves a legacy of service, advocacy, and action that will endure for generations.

Lori and Gary are longtime members of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, where their shared faith and service have been deeply rooted.
