Lori Michelle Myers - Passed peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the age of 58, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born on November 24, 1964, in her hometown of Biloxi, Lori lived a life full of compassion, adventure, and dedication to her profession. Lori's career spanned 30 years, and she practiced nursing at Ocean Springs Hospital, Gulf Coast Outpatient Surgery Center, and the Center for Eye Care in Ocean Springs.

Lori's passion for nursing began after graduating from Biloxi High School. She initially worked as a certified optician and ophthalmic assistant before earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama. Throughout her career, Lori touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues through her kindness and expertise.

Not only did Lori excel in her profession, but she also had a remarkable impact on those around her. Described as "everybody's mom," and later officially dubbed "Madre," she constantly welcomed her children's friends and guests into her home with open arms. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her own family as she regularly took new nurses under her wing and became a mentor to many.

In addition to her successful career and nurturing personality, Lori had an infectious and insatiable zest for life. She adored traveling and never skipped an opportunity to visit a garden, park, museum, or any beautiful body of water. Ever the temporary resident and never a tourist, Lori had a knack for finding local hidden gems and the best food, whether at a restaurant, food truck, or street vendor.

Cooking with her husband brought her immense joy, as did indulging in outdoor activities such as swimming, gardening, and biking. But it was the simple pleasures that genuinely warmed Lori's heart – things like spending time on the back porch watching birds in the bird feeder, taking a walk on the beach with a friend or her family, or going to the Biloxi Causeway Park to the enjoy the sky's changing colors at sunset.

Lori also had an appreciation for art and music. Impressionist painters held a special place in her heart, as did local Gulf Coast artists whose work captured the essence of the region she loved dearly.

Lori leaves behind a legacy as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and colleague. Her devotion to her family was unwavering. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, David Gress; her children Maria (David Stoesz) Gress, David Ross (fiancé Nicole Partrick) Gress and Kristian Ellis; her mother Betty (nee Peralta) Myers; sister Delene (Steve) Fullilove, sister Sharon (late Templeton Fowlkes) Myers and a brother Steven (Kimberley) Myers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Ronnie Myers, her granddaughter, Penelope Ross Gress, and her godson and nephew Jarrod Kiger.

Lori Michelle Myers will forever be remembered for her selfless nature, unwavering care for others, and the impact she made on countless lives. As we mourn the loss of such an incredible individual, let us also celebrate the profound joy she brought into our lives. May she rest in eternal peace. Her spirit will continue to live on through the memories shared by all fortunate enough to know and love her.

A "Celebration of Life", open house, will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a special eulogy reading at 5:00 PM, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, in Biloxi.
