Lorraine Ann Zebrowski (Turcotte) of Armada, Michigan passed away December 29, 2024 at the age of 72.
Lorraine was born on December 7, 1952 - the eleventh Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in Mount Clemens, Michigan, to Arthur and Blanch (Williamson) Turcotte. She was the youngest of three daughters. As a child Lorraine dreamed of two things; riding horses and being a mom. She graduated from Clintondale High School in 1971 and achieved her dream of horse ownership by carrying mail for the United States Postal Service. The physical work led to bad knees and a fear of birds.
Lorraine married Stephen Thomas Zebrowski on September 8, 1979. Together they purchased a horse farm in Armada and had two children. Lorraine was a stay-at-home mom for a decade, working her hardest but living her best life during this time; she ran a horse boarding business while being a great mom, cook, pool cleaner, house keeper, chauffer, Scout mom, dog mom, and assistant to her husband's art studio. She later worked for the Armada Area Schools as a bus driver and lunch lady to be close to her children. She earned the nickname "Ditch Momma" for ditching school buses on perfectly sunny, clear days. Her daughter would skip class to join her in the school cafeteria for chocolate milk breaks.
Dedication to her family helped Lorraine persevere despite tragedy and health challenges. Her son Stephen Thomas Zebrowski Jr. was killed in a car accident on December 24, 2001, at the age of 18. That loss impacted Lorraine for the rest of her life. After her eventual retirement, she raised pug dogs to fill her empty nest. She became a grandmother (or rather, a Nana) with the births of Roseanne Venuk in 2017 and Stephen Venuk in 2019. Lorraine loved being a Nana, despite the ailments restricting her mobility and preventing her from being the doting grandmother she dreamed of being.
Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, chocolate chip cookie baker, and euchre player who will be deeply missed. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Thomas Zebrowski; loving mother of Kimberly (Donald) Venuk and the late Stephen Zebrowski Jr.; adored grandmother of Roseanne Venuk and Stephen Venuk; cherished sister of the late Linda Turcotte and the late Diane Swider; beloved aunt of Paula White, Daniel Short, Stephen Karamon, Michelle Karamon, and Robert Karamon; and dear family to Susan Zebrowski, Scott Grygiel, Jerrod Grygiel, and Ken and Lorraine (Zebrowski) Karamon.
In lieu of flowers, raise a glass of Pepsi in Lorraine's honor and make memorial donations to the Michigan Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
A memorial lunch for Lorraine will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., if you would like to attend please RSVP with Kim for the location and details, space is limited.
