Luther "Big Man" Thompson, Jr. of Florence, South Carolina transitioned to his eternal rest on August 19, 2023, at his home in Florence, South Carolina.

Big Man was born on March 2, 1963, to the late Luther "Stump" Thompson, Sr. and Delores Thompson in Florence, South Carolina. Big Man accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Spring Branch Baptist Church. He participated in the church youth and young adult programs.

He attended Florence County School District #2 and graduated from Hannah-Pamplico High School in 1982 where he played high school sports. He loved playing football and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

After graduating from high school, Big Man moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he was employed at the Baltimore Oriole Baseball Stadium. He also worked at the Baltimore Tin Plate Company before returning to South Carolina to be with his family.

Family and Friends described Big Man as a loving, dependable, and caring person. He loved helping and doing odd jobs for people in his community. Big Man was always willing to help anyone. He especially loved doing lawn work.

Luther "Big Man" Thompson, Jr. was predeceased by his father, Luther "Stump" Thompson, Sr. and sister, Lorraine Thompson McAllister.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his mother, who loved him dearly, Delores Thompson of Pamplico, SC; three sisters, Marlene (Elerbey) Pringle of Florence, SC, Evelyn Thompson of Florence, SC and Brazine (Eric) Jackson of Anchorage, AK; one brother, Gregory Thompson of Durham, NC; one aunt, Mary Kelly of Florence, SC; three uncles, Gilbert Cannon and Wilbert Cannon of Florence, SC, Franklin Thompson of Newark, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, 2331 Thompson Lane, Pamplico.
