Lynda Scanlon, formerly of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, surrounded by her family, at the age of 76.

Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon with the funeral service to begin at noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Terry Cemetery.

Lynda was born on January 28, 1949, in Terry, Mississippi, to Vernon Lowe and Retha Walker King. She grew up in Terry, where she was raised by her grandparents. She later married Thomas Patrick Scanlon, and together they shared 51 years of marriage and had two daughters whom she absolutely adored. She worked in multiple careers over the years, most notably with children, including as a school bus driver and teacher’s aid for Brandon Schools and as a cook in the daycare of Crossgates United Methodist Church. A devout Christian and woman of strong faith, Lynda was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church and truly loved her church family.

She was always having so much fun. She enjoyed travelling with her daughters on all sorts of trips and later travelling across the country and across the world with her husband. Her laugh was contagious, and she could brighten a room.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her twin sister, Brenda Majors.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Patrick Scanlon; daughters, Lindsay Ainsworth (Jason) and Elizabeth Irvin (Court); beloved grandchildren, Gary, Gavin, and Grant; sister, Latricia Young; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crossgates Baptist Church Food Pantry.
