Lynnette "Winnie" Rhodes Strathern passed away peacefully in Orem, Utah on August 15, 2024, at age 95. She was born on June 26,1929 in South Charleston, Ohio to Frances Lucile Morrow Rhodes and Robert Lincoln Rhodes. She was called "Winnie" throughout her life. She had an older sister, Frances Elizabeth, "Babs," and a younger brother, Robert Steven "Steve."
She graduated from South Charleston High School where she was a cheerleader and class secretary. Winnie attended college at Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio University, and Ohio State University where she joined the Chi Omega sorority. There she met her future husband, Wallace Gordon Strathern, Jr. "Wally." Good with numbers, Winnie worked as a payroll and accounting clerk throughout her adult life.
She and Wally had two daughters, Julia and Amy, whom they raised in Columbus, Ohio. Winnie loved to watch sports, and she and Wally bet each other nickels over which team would win. They loved to travel and explore new places.
Wally passed away in 1996 and daughter Amy in 2009 from illness; Winnie took great care of them. Winnie eventually moved to South Dakota then Utah to be near Julia and her husband, Tim. She is survived by her brother Steve Rhodes (Mary), daughter Julia Heaton, sons-in-law Timothy Heaton and Boyd Taylor, grandchildren Christina Heaton (Thane Williams), Amy Heaton, Holly Vandermolen (Harold), Christopher Taylor (Silvana), Michael Taylor (Meagan), Cheri Stehmeier (Ian), Shelby Taylor, and 10 great-grandchildren.
