Mara Jane (Carter) Laymon, 86, passed away on January 8, 2025, at HarborChase in Southlake, TX.
She was born on October 20, 1938, in Marion, IN to Garnet Opal Day and Myron Carter. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington. On September 19, 1964, she married Denis Laymon in Huntington, IN. Mara Jane was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a love for music and started playing the piano at a young age and continued to play throughout her life. In her spare time, she loved to read and spend time with her family. Friends and family remember her beautiful smile, kindness, sense of humor and gift of gab.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Denis, and brothers, Alyn Carter and Reinald Carter. She is survived by her children, Todd Laymon, Jill (Matthew) Gabriel, grandson, Matthew Laymon Cabrera, and sister in law, Maribelle Carter.
There will be a private graveside service for family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
