Maranda Gail Mathis was heavenly embraced by our Lord on May 24, 2022 at the age of 11. She was born on May 6, 2011 in Gainsville, Florida to Deanna Gornto and Brian Mathis, Jr..
Maranda had a huge loving heart. She was sweet, smart and a shy tom boy who enjoyed being within nature and spending time outdoors. Those who knew Maranda, knew her great imagination and often expressed her love for unicorns and mermaids, especially if they were her favorite color purple.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Deanna Gornto and Brian Mathis, Jr..; grandfather, Brian Mathis, Sr. of Uvalde, Texas; great grandmother, Margie Mathis; brother, Bruce Mathis; aunts, Angela Turner, Pamela Lucas, Jean Gornto, Barbara Miller and Carol Miller; and uncles, Melvin Mathis, Ted Gornto, Sr., Quinten Mathis, James D Miller and Greg Garland, as well as many, many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Miranda Miller; grandmother, Etta Gornto; and grandfather, William Bolesta.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Rushing Estes Knowles at 2:00PM.

My family and I are so sorry to hear about the death of Maranda. And we humbly offer you our deepest condolences on losing your most cherished daughter. Our hearts are broken, and we are sending many thoughts and prayers and a future with hope, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:54, where it says, "then the saying that is written will take place: "Death is swallowed up forever.""
