It is with love and sadness that we share the passing of Maria Del-Refugio Rios Valles, who passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio on Thursday.
Born on August 20, 1958, in Piedras Negras, Mexico, Maria lived a vibrant and expressive life. A woman of strong Catholic faith, she leaned on her beliefs through life’s many challenges. She had a deep love for art, music, and Mexican culture, and her appreciation for comedy, imagination, and self-expression brought joy and color to the world around her. Her laughter, honesty, and originality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Maria is survived by her spouse who is currently in hospice. She is also survived by her three children: Amira Alsareinye (Khaled Momani); Reina Ruqayyah; and Zane Alsareinye (Edie Osuma). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Soultan, Isa, and Maryam; her sisters: Sylvia Tellez, Julie Garza, Carol Guerra, Mercy Valles, and Bertha Valles; and her many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Valles and Bertha Hernandez-Rios, and her sisters, Carmen Valles and Amelia Valles.
