Maria L. Tijerina Teague born January 3, 1948 went to be with the Lord Our Savior on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Maria left peacefully in her sleep, free of pain and anguish, Truly an Angelic vision.
She was born to Manuel Garza and Dolores Pastrano Tijerina (both deceased), in a small house on Camada St., San Antonio, Tx. She attended Incarnate Word High School. And with a small loan from our grand father Papa Jerry (Geronimo L. Pastrano), she attended Southwest Texas University (San Marcos). Graduating in 1971 with Bachelor of Science in Education (Bilingual-Elementary). Teaching 26 yrs Edgewood ISD, 4 yrs Houston ISD and 6 yrs Tutoring in SA. Maria helped many many students, including family and friends, to achieve their greatest potential!! She'll be greatly missed!!!
Maria is also preceded in death by her Baby Girl Teague, her brothers Manuel Pastrano Tijerina II (Lupe), Alejandro Pastrano Tijerina, Jerome Pastrano Tijerina (Linda), Bernardo Pastrano Tijerina. Nephews Brandon Philip Tijerina, Ronald Vasquez Jr., Christian Jordan Tijerina and John John Bononcini.
Maria is survived by her brothers Maurice Pastrano Tijerina (Joann), Alfredo Pastrano Tijerina (JP Anderson), JohnPhilipTijerina, Sisters Brigid T. McIntyre (Bob), Patsy T. Henson (Mark), RoseAnn M. Bononcini (Lyn Morehead). And her partner of 32 Yrs Elton Lee, Godson Anthony Tijerina, Goddaughter Christina H. Saldivar. Numerous nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, and great grand nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins 2nd, 3rd, 4th cousins. Her closest friends/colleagues Stephanie Mergle, Sheila Barrington, and Bonnie Uranga.
Funeral Services to include a viewing, Rosary and Funeral Mass for Maria L. Tijerina Teague will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 beginning at 12:45 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church located at 350 Sutton off of St. Cloud.
A small reception will be held beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Braun Station West Clubhouse located at 8630 Tezel Rd San Antonio, Texas. Interment will be held at a later time.
