EASTON----Marian B. Whelton, 91, a resident of Easton for the past 35 years, formerly of Quincy and Brockton, passed away on October 29, 2023, at Brookdale Falling Creek Senior Living Center in Hickory, North Carolina after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of the late John "Jack" E. Whelton for over 40 years.
Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Yanni) Lombardo. Marian graduated from Brockton High School and a received a bachelor's degree from Simmons College in 1959. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Easton and was active in the Italian Women's Club of Brockton.
Marian is survived by her nephew Marc Lombardo and his wife Karen, and their children Emily and Thomas Joncas, Julie and Peter Rozzi and Kate Lombardo, in addition to her special family, the Gravels of North Carolina. She was also the brother of the late John "Jack" Lombardo of Taunton.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral Mass at the Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase Street, South Easton, at 10:30 a.m. on November 6, 2023. Interment will follow at the Melrose Cemetery located at 89 North Pearl Street in Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian's memory may be sent to Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase Street, South Easton, Massachusetts 02375. For directions or condolences visit www.kanefuneralhome.com.

It is sad to realize that Marian is gone. She was my dear friend from childhood. Together in Elementary School through high school we played, studied and gossiped together. Although distance separated us, we had kept in touch all these many years.
