In Loving Memory of Marilyn Margaret Nicholson March 27, 1960 – May 30, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Marilyn Margaret Nicholson, who left this world on May 30th, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by love at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Marilyn touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and unshakable spirit.
Born in Hialeah, Florida, on March 27, 1960, to John and Mary Caroline (née Broom) Nicholson, Marilyn spent her early years basking in the Florida sunshine before moving to Manchester, Tennessee, at age 17. She graduated from Coffee County High School, carrying with her a sense of independence and free-spiritedness that would define her life.
Marilyn had a love for life's simple and beautiful things-antiquing, Cuban cuisine, swimming, kayaking, and beachcombing. Her heart was especially big for animals, always opening her home to rescues in need of care and comfort. Her passion for helping others knew no bounds; she gave freely to those in need and stood as a pillar of strength and compassion for her family and community.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mary Jane Nicholson and Kattie (Jon) Jones; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Felicia, and Skylar Nicholson; Emery and Remy Jones; and her great-granddaughter Grace Lumbley. She is also survived by her brother, Gary (Fran) Nicholson, and sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Stafford, who will forever hold her memory close.
Marilyn now joins her parents, John and Mary Caroline Nicholson; sisters Barbara Adams and Deborah Nicholson; brother John Nicholson; and great-granddaughter Hope Lumbley in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 20th from 3pm-8pm at the Ada Wright Building located at 328 N. Woodland St. in Manchester, TN. Friends and family will gather to honor and remember a life so beautifully lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Marilyn's memory to The American Stroke Foundation or Spay Tennessee.
Marilyn's light, laughter, and love will be missed, but never forgotten.
