Today we honor and celebrate the life of Mario Rene Rendon, a truly beautiful soul whose presence touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born on April 3, 1980, at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California, home of his beloved back-to-back World Series Champion LA Dodgers, Mario was the cherished first-born son of Ana and the late Mario Sr., and a loving brother to Gloria, Valo, Julio, and Carlos.
From a young age, Mario's gentle spirit shone brightly. He was kind, thoughtful, and always put others before himself. He was Gloria's right hand, helping to keep his younger brothers in line with a quiet strength and unwavering love.
Mario's sweetness was legendary, so much so that it took 18 years for his mother to see him angry for the first time. And even then, his remorse was immediate, arriving with a heartfelt apology, a card, and a plant for Ana, a gesture that perfectly captured his tender heart.
Mario shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Marty, a Jack Russell Terrier-Chihuahua mix he rescued while living in Phoenix. Marty never left his side and remained with Mario until his final day.
He was a man of many passions. He found joy in drawing, reading, playing the guitar, cooking, and baking. His chocolate chip cookies were unmatched, and he loved experimenting with new recipes, especially with his nephews Andy and Chris. As an uncle to Andy, Chris, Lynkon, Luna, and Gigi, Mario was known for giving the most educational gifts. He even taught Luna how to play chess at the age of eight, a testament to his patience and love for learning.
Mario earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of San Francisco, and his curiosity never diminished. He explored many paths, becoming a dog groomer, a DJ at local university radio station, a certified bartender, and even trying his hand at stand-up comedy, which, while not his forte, showcased his courage and sense of humor. Most recently, he found his calling as a robotics engineer at Amazon, a role that reflected his brilliant mind and passion for innovation.
Mario's absence leaves a profound void in our hearts. Yet, his legacy of kindness, curiosity, and love will live on in the memories we cherish and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
