Mark Joseph Frodsham, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, completed his earthly mission on August 16, 2023.
Mark was born March 14, 1936 on the kitchen table in
Woodruff, Utah to Martin Earl and Delora Frodsham. Although large in stature, he was the baby of his family with an older brother and sister. He spent his childhood raising sheep on the ranch with his family. For a time he lived in Evanston, Wyoming where he began school. During his sophomore year he transferred to South Rich High School in Randolph, Utah where he met his lifelong sweetheart, Rosalie Norris. After high school he attended BYU and played on the freshman basketball team. His coach would often chide him about his heart still being in Randolph with Rosalie. As a faithful young Latter-day Saint, he served a two year mission in Melbourne, Australia. While serving as a missionary he became part of the Mormon Yankees basketball team, a successful church outreach program to bring the gospel to the Australian people. The team competed in the pre-Olympic games of 1956 beating many national teams from across the world. Mark returned to Utah and married Rosalie in the Salt Lake Temple on January 16, 1959. They settled in the Avenues of Salt Lake City and later moved to
Holladay, Utah. Shortly after the couple was married, they were blessed with their daughter Shirlyn. A little over two years later their son Gary would come along to complete their family. Mark is survived by his wife Rosalie, children Shirlyn (Max) and Gary (Candace), eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frank Frodsham and Shirley Sims.
While successful at various jobs in the Salt Lake Valley, Mark desired to raise his family in his hometown of Woodruff. When his parents left for an LDS mission in 1969, he took the opportunity and moved to the ranch house that had been part of the family for several generations. Mark and his family thrived in Woodruff where the outdoors and horses were always part of the scene. Mark team roped, taught horsemanship to children in 4H, announced rodeos and parades, and worked with rodeo queens transporting them to rodeos. He provided for his family by hunting deer in the fall, milking cows, and raising chickens, pigs and beef cows. After holding a variety of church callings, Mark was called as the Bishop of the Woodruff Ward and led the ward in transition from a beloved historical chapel to a modern LDS meeting house. In 1984 the couple moved to
Murray, Utah where Mark became the successful business owner of Ink Image, screen printing thousands of jerseys for sports teams across the state. During this period, Mark served again as the Bishop of a singles ward bringing positive influence to many young Latter-day Saints. After retirement, Mark and Rose served a full time mission in
Sandy, Utah working in the office of the Salt Lake City South Mission. He volunteered countless hours at Tiny Tim's Foundation for Kids making little toy cars for underprivileged children across the world. Most of his time went to serving and enjoying his family and friends.
Big Mark, as he was affectionately called, was a natural leader and mentor to his family, friends, and throughout the community. He always had a joke ready or a quick-witted response to lift the spirits of those he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed!
