Mark Douglas Gallop, age 65 and longtime resident of Royal Oak, passed away on June 10, 2024.
Mark, born in Ferndale, MI, on September 12, 1958, grew up in Royal Oak and graduated from Kimball High School in 1976. He married Kimberlee (née Valent) on June 5, 1982, cherishing 42 years of marriage.
Mark built his career as an electrician in the automobile industry, most recently with Ford Motor Company. Outside of work, he led a vibrant life with diverse hobbies and interests. A gifted musician, Mark played the tuba in the Royal Oak Salvation Army band for 50 years, starting in his teens. He was also proficient on the bass guitar and enjoyed playing the piano. A gifted athlete, Mark enjoyed sports, particularly softball, playing into his 50s.
Known for his creativity and handiness, Mark could solve almost any problem and often found joy in repairing his grandchildren's toys. And his creative talents extended even to the kitchen, where he delighted in decorating cakes for his children's birthday.
Mark had a deep passion for cars, especially Corvettes. However, his greatest loves were his family and his faith in Jesus. His devotion to both was unwavering, and he will be dearly missed.
Beloved husband of Kimberlee. Loving father of Devin (Christine) Gallop and Chalyn Gallop. Proud grandfather of Grant, Elizabeth, and the late James Gallop. Dear brother of Tom (Renee) Gallop and Gary (Christina) Gallop. Loving son of Elaine Gallop and the late Douglas Gallop.
Visitation for Mark will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service, 2 p.m., at The Salvation Army Church, 3015 N. Main Street, Royal Oak. A luncheon will follow the service
