On Monday, February 24, 2025, M. Kevin Nance, passed away at the age of 62.
Kevin was born on April 26, 1962 in Jal, New Mexico to John Wesley and Melba Jo (Fulton) Nance. Kevin married Monica K Anderson on September 1, 1984. They had two daughters, Brittany Romick and Heather Howell.
Kevin graduated from Dumas High School in 1980. He played football and baseball and was in a country music band with friends. He was involved with his church youth group at First Street church of Christ. Kevin attended Lubbock Christian College for his freshman year. He was a member of the social club, Koinonia, and was a pre-engineering major. Kevin then went on to Texas Tech University to complete a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation in 1984, Kevin accepted a position within Chevron Pipeline. He and Monica moved to California to begin their married life together.
Kevin’s career with Chevron took him around the world. After working state-side for 13 years, Chevron moved Kevin and the family to Indonesia. Kevin would go on to live in Kuwait, Ghana, Russia, and Kazakhstan throughout the rest of his overseas career. He and Monica moved a total of 17 times before retiring in Cedar Creek, TX in 2023.
Kevin and Monica were members of Heart of Texas church of Christ in Bastrop, TX. Kevin was named an elder in 2024. He was a great servant to the church and was always willing to jump in and do any task that needed to be done. His favorite events to help out with included cooking meals for the ladies events held at the church and hosting church gatherings at their property. He made sure their home was a welcoming space to all.
After a brief fight with an aggressive brain tumor, Kevin left this life after moving to Lubbock, TX with Monica to continue further medical treatment near family.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Monica K (Anderson) Nance; daughters Brittany (Nance) & Richard Romick of Edmond, OK, Heather (Nance) & Steven Howell of Lubbock, TX; brother Larry & Perri (White) Nance of Burleson, TX; sister Kim (Nance) & Ronnie Morse of Tijeras, NM; grandchildren Andrew and Amelia Romick of Edmond, OK.
Celebration of life will be held at Sunset church of Christ on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 2:00PM. Visitation with the family will be immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin’s family kindly requests that donations be made to support the future dreams of his cherished grandchildren.
