A funeral Mass for Marlene Rolling, 83, of Bancroft, will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, April 11, 2024, with a rosary beginning at 4:45 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft.
Ruth Marlene Rolling was born December 28, 1940, in Burt, the second youngest of ten children of Leo and Mattie (Graham) Fox. She grew up near Seneca graduating from Sentral High School in 1958. She married Dennis Rolling on December 30, 1958, at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft.
Marlene was hardworking and loved working in her garden, raising flowers and being outdoors. She also enjoyed decorating her home and doing crafts. Her faith was very important to her, she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and active in the Altar Society. Marlene also liked to play cards such as solitaire and 500, often going around with their card club. She enjoyed to dance and was an avid Hawkeye basketball fan. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marlene Rolling died Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Algona Manor Care Center at the age of 83. She had been a resident there since June of 2021.
She is survived by her children, Shane (Kellee) Rolling of Fort Dodge, Sonja (Bill) Merron of Bancroft, Cory (Robin) Rolling of Fort Dodge, Conley (Christina) Rolling of Bancroft, Tiffany(Brian) Blocker of Bancroft, Delta (Mike Kahler) Berte of Titonka and Damon (Angie) Rolling of Bancroft; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dennis on June 27, 2016; a son-in-law, Edward Berte; her siblings, George Fox, Russell Fox, Larry Fox, Roger Fox, Mary Anne Wyatt, Rozella Hurlburt, Margaret Heidi, Richard Fox, and Beverly Farrow.
