Marsha Kay Whitaker

Marsha Kay Whitaker, born on June 16, 1956, in Tupelo, Mississippi, departed this world on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her cherished memories and the love of her family. Known for her unwavering spirit, Marsha made indelible marks in both her professional and personal life, leaving an enduring legacy that will resonate with those who knew her.

For fifteen years, Marsha lent her talents to the world of Bauhaus furniture, embodying the principles of functional design with a creative flair that mirrored her vibrant personality. Her journey included attending Hatley High School. She later achieved her GED, a testament to her dedication to learning. A woman who was serious yet fiercely loving, Marsha’s persona was an intriguing blend of independence and warmth. Her family and friends would describe her as bossy and outspoken, possessing a spirited conviction that could spark debates and lively discussions. Despite her occasional stubbornness, those close to her felt her caring nature radiate profoundly. She was known to always tell her family, “I love you,” embedding an eternal reminder of her affection within their hearts.

Marsha's life was enriched by an array of interests that painted a picture of her vibrant essence. A devoted family member, she found joy in intimate gatherings and cherished moments, often sharing her faith in God. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Shannon, MS. The simple pleasure of word search books captured her leisure time, while true crime shows, cop dramas, and westerns occupied her evenings. More than just hobbies, these pursuits were windows into the world she loved—filled with stories, challenges, and deep-rooted values cherished over time.

Her passing leaves a palpable void in the lives of those who adored her. Marsha is survived by her brothers, Tommy Whitaker and his wife Judy, and Michael Whitaker; her sister, Mary Jo Sloan; as well as many beloved nephews, including Chris Whitaker (Hope), Kevin Whitaker, Brandon Whitaker (Paige), and Nathan Whitaker. She treasured her nieces Emily Wright (Chandler) and Amber Fowler (Brandon), along with her bonus niece Alysha Garner and bonus nephew Scott Pace (Linette), alongside a multitude of great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marsha was also shaped by her familial history, remembered fondly by her late parents, Thomas Eugene and Kathryn Edwards Whitaker, her brother, James Mitchell Whitaker, and her kin, including her departed nephews Randy Sloan and Jason Whitaker, as well as her sister-in-law Donna Kay Whitaker and brother-in-law Larry Sloan. The echoes of their love and laughter undoubtedly continue to resonate with her in peace.

Throughout her life, one of Marsha’s proudest accomplishments was her triumph over smoking, a testament to her strength and determination. This commitment mirrored her fierce love for her country, and she wore her pride in being an American as a badge of honor.

A visitation to celebrate Marsha’s life will take place on July 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi with a Memorial service at 2:00 PM with Bro. James Knight officiating. It is here, among friends and family, that we will gather to remember a woman who carried love and strength—a true embodiment of resilience and warmth. As we bid farewell to Marsha, we carry forward her remarkable spirit, sewn with memories of love, laughter, and fierce independence.
