It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janel Anderson on June 17, 2025, at the age of 92.
Janel was born on November 23, 1932, in Cyril, Oklahoma. A devoted wife, entrepreneur, and woman of faith, she touched the lives of many throughout her long and full life.
She married Richard Bagely in October 1950. During their marriage, Janel owned and operated a dress shop and beauty salon in Elgin, Oklahoma, as well as a dress shop in Burkburnett, Texas. Both she and Richard were active and supportive members of their church community. After Richard's passing in 1985, Janel moved to Burkburnett and worked in the office at Preston Dairy for three years.
In 1988, she found love again and married Bill Anderson. Janel became an active member of the Lighthouse Church in Burkburnett, continuing her lifelong commitment to faith and service. Following Bill's passing in 2011, she sold their home and moved to Oklahoma City to live with her nephew, John Duncan, and his wife, Judy.
In 2018, Janel moved to Canyon, Texas, to live with another nephew, Duncan Brown, and his wife, Cindy. In 2021, she moved into Hudson House Assisted Living in Canyon, where she lived until her passing. While in Canyon, she supported the Rockwell Road Baptist Church and its children's ministry, a cause close to her heart.
Janel was preceded in death by her parents, W.O. and Jack Duncan, her brother Bill Duncan, and her sister Roma Brown.
She is lovingly remembered by her nephew John Duncan and his wife Judy; nephew Duncan Brown and his wife Cindy; and great-nephews Duncan Eugene Brown and wife Ami, and Zane Brown and wife Vanessa.
Graveside service for Janel will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Celestial Gardens in Cyril, Oklahoma. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockwell Road Baptist Church Children's Ministry, P.O. Box 31496, Amarillo, TX 79120.
