Mary Evelyn Gilbert

Mary Evelyn Gilbert – Age 90 of Knoxville, TN., was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 14, 2025, a fitting day for someone who embodied love throughout her life. She will be always remembered for her sweet, gentle nature and her servant's heart.
Born on October 13, 1934, in Knoxville, TN, Mary spent her entire life in the Riverdale community. She graduated from Carter High School in 1952, and was a dedicated member of Riverdale Baptist Church. Known for her thoughtful notes and heartfelt poetry, she touched countless lives with her kindness and grace. She wanted every person that crossed her path to feel loved and valued.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jackie Gilbert; her parents Kyle and Doris Welch; sisters Betty Fern Vineyard and Sarah Katherine Welch; and brother James Welch.
Left to cherish her memory and await the day of their reunion in glory, daughter Karen Rader (Todd); granddaughter Leslie Henry (Andrew); steadfast brother-in-law, Kenneth Gilbert (Carol); and devoted niece Cheyenne Albright (Clay); as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her lifelong friend Marjorie Miller.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff at UT Hospital's Palliative Care Unit for their exceptional care and compassion. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 19th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bridge's Funeral Home.
Family and friends will gather at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 12:15 PM, on Thursday February 20, 2025, for a 12:30 PM graveside service with Rev. Michael Vincent officiating.
