Mary Agnes Knoll, born August 31, 1934, passed away peacefully with family members by her side, on October 22, 2025, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Mary found the love of her life, the late Robert Knoll, and together they raised a family rooted in faith and boundless love. Her daughters: Tammy (Jeff) Wilkins, Susan (Barry) Taplin, Karen (Dave) Labs, and Diane (Patrick) Gafney, were her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the importance of family. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Mary's legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren: Rob Vodnik, Adam (Trisha) Vodnik, Tony (Angie) Vodnik, Meghan (Shane) Wilkins, Grant (Jessica) Wilkins, Ryan Smith, Luke (Chelsa) Smith, Jason Labs, Corby Gafney, and Keegan Gafney. Her great-grandchildren: Phoebe, Evie, Charlotte, Vada, Max, Myla, Ciera, Tucker, Isaac, Christian, Kamden, Griffyn, Willa, Wren, and Whitley, brought her immeasurable happiness. "All because two people fell in love."
Mary cherished the simple joys of life. Her kindness was a beacon that drew others to her. Mary's involvement in church was a reflection of her commitment to her Catholic faith. She loved golfing and bowling, creating memories with her friends. Her hands, always busy, crocheting afghans and her famous towels were an expression of her love. Family vacations to Brainerd were a highlight, filled with laughter and grandkids. The winters spent in Florida provided a warm respite from the Wisconsin cold. She loved Bingo and Casinos with her best friends and sisters. Mary was proud to say she retired as a "domestic engineer".
Mary's love has become a blessing to all who knew her. Her legacy is one of love, family, and faith, and it will continue to live on through the lives she touched.
Mary's family is deeply grateful to the wonderful staff at The Bay at Elkhart Lake who cared for her the past 12 years and to the Aurora at Home Hospice team for providing our mom comfort in her final days.
Service will be held on Monday, October 27, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 115 Plymouth St. Plymouth, WI with a rosary beginning at 10 AM, followed by visitation from 10:30 until 11:45 AM. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to
Muscular Dystrophy Association, https://www.mda.org/, in honor of Mary's brother, Jimmy, would be appreciated.
