Mary McLoughlin Langguth

Mary McLoughlin Langguth, 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. She was born on August 20, 1947 to John and Mary McLoughlin in the Bronx, NY.
After attending Saint Barnabas High School and St. Thomas Aquinas College, Mary raised her children in the Bronx. She spent her time supporting her family and community as the executive director of the Kingsbridge Heights Neighborhood Improvement Association. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Angels parish, working to educate the younger generations through the CCD program.
Mary was active in her church community wherever she lived, serving as the Director of Religious Education at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Atlanta, GA. She continued that role in Washington, IA at the Saint James Catholic Church, before moving to Lansing, MI in 2000. Mary spent over two decades as a member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church; among her many efforts, she was a lector and mass coordinator.
In her free time, Mary was a voracious reader and avid gardener. She enjoyed birdwatching and playing cards with her family. On her many travels, she enjoyed exploring art museums at length, and was particularly fond of Van Gogh's Starry Night.
Mary was a steadfast friend, neighbor, and mother. Her love and support was quiet and endless. She could disagree wholeheartedly with someone, but she never stopped loving them.
Mary's deep faith was an inspiration to all who knew her – it was an enduring force throughout her life until her last days. Death was not something she feared, but instead was something she spent her life preparing for.
She has joined her parents in the afterlife, as well as her siblings John, Alice, and Andy.
Mary is survived by her children, Katherine and Don; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her dear friends Dorothy, Jan, Judy, and Nancy, and many members of the community she loved.
A Visitation for Mary Langguth will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Palmer Bush & Jensen - Delta Chapel at 6301 W. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, Michigan 48917. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Gerard Catholic Church at 4437 W. Willow Hwy, Lansing, Michigan 48917. Family will begin receiving friends at 9:30 am.
