Mary Helen (Beksha) Mercer, 72, died October 1 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. She was the wife of Alan Mercer for the past 49 years.
Born in Milford, April 2,1952, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (McCahill) Beksha, Mary was raised in Medway and had lived in Franklin for over 25 years before returning to Medway.
She was a graduate of Medway High School where she excelled in gymnastics and enjoyed cheerleading. She attained a degree as a certified dental assistant from the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry.
Mary had been a dental assistant at several local dental offices including Dr. Richard Berry, DMD of Medway.
Above all Mary enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary taught us the value of maintaining family connections, no matter the distance. Mary always made time for the people she cared about, and showed us that family always comes first. Everyone who knew Mary, knew how proud she was of the people she loved.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Justin Mercer and his wife Melissa Mercer of Wrentham.
She is also survived by her siblings, Edward Beksha of Franklin, Joseph & Renay Beksha of Narraganset, Rhode Island, Joanne Beksha Brown of Medway, Peter Beksha of Franklin, her sister in law Kathleen Murphy Beksha of Attleboro and the late Daniel Beksha.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Edward Beksha Jr., Casey Beksha, Lisa Bravo, Joseph Beksha III, Johnny Beksha, Andrew Wilber, Richard Wilber Jr., Peter Beksha Jr., Kate Haddad, Daniel Beksha II, Patrick Beksha, Ashley Mercer Schoen, Christopher Mercer, Jill Mercer, Beth Mercer Narducci, Amy Mercer Buliung, and Ali Funkhouser.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 9 from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home 3 Barber Street, Medway.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 10 at St. Joseph Church, Medway at 10:00a.m.
Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Dan Beksha Memorial Fund Two 13th Street, Attleboro, Ma. 02703.
