Mary L. Montooth, 76, of Kewanee, died Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Allure of Lake Storey, Galesburg. Mary was born November 28, 1947, in Morrison, IL, the daughter of Jack and Leona (Peterson) Smith. Mary attended Wethersfield High School. Mary married Paul A. Montooth on September 22, 1972, in Elmira, IL; he preceded her in death on September 29, 2010.
Mary is survived by two children, Robert (Peggy) Montooth, Little York, IL, Jaclyn (John) Holmes, Kewanee; and five grandchildren, Dylan and Brandon Montooth, Ethan, Hanna, and John Ryelee Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Tyler Montooth; and a brother, Bob Smith.
Mary worked as an assistant manager for Payless Shoes, she previously worked for Shop-N-Go and Sandy's. Mary enjoyed crafting and crocheting. Family was Mary's pride and joy, especially her grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. The family has asked for people who are feeling sick to stay home in light of the recent outbreaks of the covid virus. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate.
