Mary Beecher O'Brien (89) died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August18th 2025. The daughter of Harry Christian Beecher and Cecelia Richer Beecher, she wasborn in Pawtucket RI in 1936 . Mary was raised in Providence, graduating from St. Xavier'sAcademy in 1953. In 1960 she married Jim O'Brien and together they raised four children inSalem NH. Mary worked for 36 years at three local hospitals: Ben Secours Hospital,Lawrence General and finally retiring from Lowell General Hospital. Mary received aBachelor of Science degree from Merrimack College at the age of 61. She was proud tohave served on the Board of the American Hospital Association for Voluntarism and PatientAdvocacy as Education Chairperson. Mary's loves included travel with her family andfriends and choral singing, especially as a charter member of Mary, Queen of Peace choirand Salem (NH) Choral Society. Most of all, Mary was proudest of her family and timespent with them was her greatest joy: Mary & Antonio Guerrero of Lawrence, MA, MichaelO'Brien of Wells, ME, Thomas & Fiona O'Brien of Brighton MA, and Ken O'Brien &JoniWiesfeld of West Hartford, CT. Mary leaves beloved grandchildren: Patrick (Kate Delaney),Eric (Sherly Garcia), and Katerina Guerrero; Aidan (Robyn), Maeve, Alannah (Luke Pumiglia),Grace, Gwyneth, and Nyla O'Brien; Jonathan and Evelys Garcia and great grandchildren:William, Ciaran and Hugo O'Brien. Mary is survived by her dear sisters: Cecelia Weigold ofJamestown RI and Clare Baffoni of Narragansett RI and her sister-in-law Janice Beecher ofAttleboro, MA. Mary was predeceased by her siblings Catherine (Kay) Beecher and Henry(Hank) Beecher and her best and forever friend, Jim O'Brien. Mary lived by Jesus' words,"Love one another as I have loved you." She was comforted by her faith and the words ofthe Irish Blessing: Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
