Matheo Isiah "Poppy" Hernandez was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, November 4, 2021, to Jamar Barnett and Kayla Hernandez. He departed this life at 10:33 am on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Marion Health, at the age of 21 months.
From Dad: Poppy is my best friend; he never liked to wear clothes and would take my game controller and hide it. Poppy loved being on the phone with his Uncle Mar'Quan for an hour. Just know that Matheo is my best friend ever. He leaves to cherish his memory four siblings: Jamar, Jamarion, La'Cienga, and Luciana Barnett, all of Marion. He leaves his grandparents, Octavia Jordan of Marion, Juan Hernandez of El Paso, TX, Regina Horton of Indianapolis, James (Kristen) Barnett, Jr., of Kokomo, Austin Horton, Darla Small, Jakeya Barnett, Mar'Quan Barnett, Randy Jackson, Landon Watts, Austin Wisnieski, Aaron Wofford, Jr.; and a host of cousins. He also leaves godparents, Tyrell Cobb and Aric Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edna E. Green, Gallon Matthews, Joe Horton, Roosevelt White, and Uraul Octavia Green.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 705 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Matheo's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Al Green officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
