Maurice Lynch, birthday Nov. 5, 1919 passed away peacefully Dec. 13, 2022, he had just celebrated his 103rd birthday with family and friends at one of his favorite spots, a restaurants along the Sacramento River in the Antioch, where he lived his entire life. He believed it was heaven on earth!
Maury was born into a pioneering wheat farming that included ten great uncles and his grandpa, all of which it took to run the great swathers pulled by multiple teams of horses to harvest the many acres of wheat around what has become the greater Antioch area.
Maury's father Patrick and mother Elizabeth also had another son Philip, and two daughters Helen and Ramona who all preceded Maury in death.
Maury was a devout Catholic from his days as an altar boy through life as a parishioner attending Mass daily later in life as time and health allowed. He attended local schools graduating from Antioch High School. Maury served in the Navy during World War II aboard USS Detroit which sailed into Pearl Harbor on Dec. 8, 1941. He returned to Antioch after his service and began working for US Steel where he met Kay Poole, they married and had twins Pat and Peggy.
He went to work at the refineries in the area, becoming an electrician, until his retirement.
After Maury retired he met and married Betty Muir enjoying each other's company until Betty passed away. From that relationship Maury got two stepsons Greg and Kevin who were very good to him and much loved. Also two Marquita and Anna who were also very good to Maury, Marquita attended to his everyday needs which allowed him to stay longer in his own home and when he moved to the care facility continued to help with his care and needs, she was a blessing for him.
The family also wishes to thank the staff at Tri Vista Antioch for the care and attention during Maury's stay, they were very kind and considerate of Maury and the family.
A memorial for Maury is planned on Jan. 5, 2023 at Holy Cross Cemetery at 11 am
Pallbearers will be: Ron Jones, Patrick Joseph Lynch, Greg Muir, and Kevin Muir
