Max Galler, 90, of Waupun, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at his residence at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Waupun.

Max was born November 17, 1934 in Waupun, WI the son of Alfred and Katie (Loomans) Galler. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1953. Following high school Max attended Lawrence University in Appleton where he studied business and played football. Max had the honor of being selected as co-captain of the Lawrence Vikings football team his senior year and received three varsity letters before graduating in 1957. From there Max joined the Air Force where he spent one year at Oklahoma State University, training to be a meteorologist. He then spent the next two years in South Dakota working as a weather forecaster. In 1960 Max returned to Waupun and became the accountant for Landaal Bros. Co. working with his father, Alfred. In 1976 Max began working at Waupun Equipment Co. as their accountant and remained with them until this retirement in 2004. Upon returning to Waupun Max met and married Judy (Molter) Galler on June 23rd, 1962. They remained in Waupun their entire married lives and raised their two children, Mark and Jodi. Max was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church for 63 years. Max also belonged to the Rock River Country Club from 1960-2010. In 2012 Max was inducted into the Waupun High School Athletic Hall of Fame at the age of 78. This was an honor he was proud of and well deserving of. He was a talented three sport athlete that graduated from Waupun High School in 1953, and while participating in those three sports he was awarded 11 varsity letters. He received four letters in football, three in basketball, and four in baseball. As a Senior, he was the recipient of the Eagleburger Award for athletic achievement in both football and basketball. Max was also given the American Legion Outstanding Athlete Award and was selected to receive the Varsity Ike Award which was given to the outstanding Senior athlete. He remained steadfast in his love of sports his entire life.

Max is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Chris) Gerou of Malone, WI; grandchildren: Maxwell Graf and Alex (Hailey) Graf; great-granddaughter, Margo Graf; sister-in-law, Pat (Richard) Henke of Punta Gorda, FL; and nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy Galler; a son, Mark Galler; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Bernard Kloosterboer; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Florence and Paul Ebert; a brother-in-law, Dean Wickman; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Juliet Molter.

The family would like to thank Prairie Ridge Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 12 noon at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Pastor Gwen officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
