Maxine Marie McClelland, affectionately known as Max to her loved ones, passed away on February 15, 2024, after bravely facing many recent health struggles. Born on December 23, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, Maxine was the cherished daughter of the late Max and Eleanor (Koss) Musial. Her vibrant spirit and warm heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Maxine's final days were spent at McLaren Port Huron Hospital, surrounded by the love and care of her devoted family.
Maxine's journey began in Detroit where she was born, but her story unfolded in Goodells, where she built a beautiful life alongside her loving husband, Richard A. McClelland. The couple exchanged vows on December 19, 1964, near their residence at the Justice of the Peace.
The proud mother of Renae (Daniel) Kiehler of Memphis and Rich A. (Kari) McClelland of Goodells, Maxine instilled in her children the values of love and laughter. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Erika and Rebecca Kiehler, and Tyler and Allyson McClelland, who will forever cherish the memories.
Maxine's family circle extended to her brothers-in-law, Andrew (Kate) McClelland and Harvey (Betty) McClelland.
She was a proud graduate of Memphis High School's Class of 1963. She dedicated many years as a bookkeeper, meticulously managing accounts for the Letarte Company, Emmett Farm Bureau, Trombley's Country Market, Centennial Pines Tree Farm, and Emmett Hardware. She had a strong commitment to community service, as evidenced by her active involvement as a Emmett Lioness Member and Emmett VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Maxine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening. Maxine's afternoons were often spent with the dramatic twists and turns of General Hospital, and she never missed a chance to root for her beloved Lions.
As we say farewell to Maxine, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center in Kimball Township.
Memorials are to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Emmett VFW or the Emmett Lions Club.
