Melvin J. Strong, Jr.
Of Crest Hill, passed away at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the age of 53.
Melvin will be remembered first and foremost as a devoted father to his children Melvin J. Strong III, Andreas Strong, Felicia Strong, and Marcus Strong. He also shared his life and love with his girlfriend Raquel Deleon. He is survived by his parents Catherine (Joe) Macaluso and Melvin J. Strong, Sr., his sisters Kali Strong and Gina Strong and his niece, nephews.
His family and friends will remember him for his big heart, generous spirit, and the way he could bring a smile to anyone's face.
Melvin worked as the Shop Mentor at Mike More Miles Auto Repair, where his knowledge, patience, and willingness to help others earned him the respect of his co-workers and customers. Outside of work, Melvin was an avid Chicago Bears fan who idolized Walter Payton, and faithfully cheered for the White Sox. He found joy in video games, his loyal dog "Chewie," and his cat "Payton." Those who knew him best also knew how deeply he cared about his community, often giving quietly but generously to local charities. Melvin's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Enzo DiBenedetto for his continued support and friendship.
Above all, Melvin was someone who loved deeply and lived fully. Whether it was time spent with his children, laughing with friends, or sharing his passions, he left an imprint on every life he touched.
Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 6:00.
