Michael Edward Benner, age 74, of Burtchville Township, a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, at Regency on the Lake. He was born on January 25, 1951, in Port Huron, Michigan.
Michael graduated from Port Huron Northern High School in 1969, and soon after, he bravely served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 1st Air Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. His service to his nation was a source of great pride. For many years, he owned and operated Mike's Barber Shop in Port Huron.
He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf. He loved his dogs, Bailey and Junior. Michael's brother-in-law, Bill, was not only family but also a dear friend, and the two could often be found out in the pole barn.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 48 years, Lorraine Benner; he is also survived by his siblings, Marcia Benner, Jeffrey (Debbie) Benner, and Jim (Heidi) Benner; step-mother, Ruth Benner; sisters-in-law, Karen Benner, Carole (John Korte) Bejma, and Joan (Graham) Button; brother-in-law, Bill Mills; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Benner and Jeanne Blackno; and his brother, Joe Benner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, Michigan 48060. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Elder James McLeod will officiate. Interment will follow at Burtchville Township Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
