Michael "Mickey" Edward Rojee, 86, of Medway died peacefully in his home after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Nancy C. (Consigli) Rojee for the past 65 years.
Born in Medway, July 9,1937, the son of the late Joesph P. and Genevieve G. (Perkins) Rojee, Mickey was a lifelong Medway resident and a proud member of the MHS Class of 1955.
Mickey was an active and loyal member of the Medway community - highlighted by his involvement in town boards, youth sports, and most notably continuing his families parade float legacy which started in 1935 and continues to this day. Mickey was also a member of the Medway Fire Department for 45 years retiring as Deputy Chief.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Rojee, Jr. of Medway, Paul Rojee and his wife Joanne of Medway, Penny Kelley and her husband Mark of Medway, and Jodi O'Regan and her husband Michael of Athol. He was the father of the late Nancy Lee Sheppard and survived by his son-in law Carl Sheppard of Medway.
Mickey was the brother of Catherine Chenard of Medway, Shirley Paulette of Medway, Madeline "Sugar" Mill of Medway, Suzi Thornhill of Franklin and Robert Rojee of Northbridge. He was the brother of the late Joseph (Junie) Rojee, Jr. and Nellie (Honey) Tibbetts.
He was adored by his 13 grandchildren: Stephanie McGovern, Stacey McDonnell, Melissa Babineau, Jenny Clancy, Kaitlyn Mihovk, Mark Kelley, Paul Rojee, CJ Sheppard, Michael O'Regan, Brian Rojee, Courtney Aiken, Molly Castellanos, Haleigh O'Regan and 18 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral mass will be held at Noon, Saturday, November 11 at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Friday, November 10 from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com ) 3 Barber Street, Medway.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Thomas M. Rojee, Medway Fire Dept Scholarship (Charles River Bank) or The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center (Hopkinton, MA).
