Michael Paul "Mike" Solt, 73, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, while in the care of his niece Melanie and family. Born in Allentown, Mike was a son of the late Paul L. and Violet E. (Kunkle) Solt, and was a 1969 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton.
Mike honorably and faithfully served our country in The United States Army during the Vietnam War. It was during his time stationed in the Army that Mike was introduced to computers which led to his career in technology. He was employed by Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, as a Computer Operations Manager and Supervisor for 32 years in their computer center. After his retirement in 2008, Mike took up the craft of woodworking making toys, turning bowls, and even making his own urn.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and gun collector. He was a member of Mertztown Rod and Gun Club, Alburtis Rod and Gun Club, Topton Fish and Game Assn., Rockland Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the NRA. He was an original member of Schmidt Hill Hunting Camp and was a hunting education instructor for 23 years. He made several trips to Montana with his buddies Woody and Barry to hunt mule deer and antelope. He also loved to hunt on his grandparents' farm with his uncles Larry and Dennis. Mike was also proud of his heritage and enjoyed being a part of the Longswamp Township community. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends but fondly remembered for his humor, kindness, and giving his nieces a "hard time."
Mike is survived by his two siblings, Kerry L., husband of Ivy (Weiser) Solt, Alburtis, and Sharon Solt Miller, wife of David Miller, Alburtis; nieces, Prudence (Solt), wife of Jeremy Miller, Melanie (Solt), wife of Adam Miller, Emily (Miller), wife of Donovan Mattole, Sarah (Miller), wife of Tony DiCicco and Hannah (Miller), wife of Joe Phillips; and his great-nieces and nephews, Riley, Madelynn, Wyatt, Maddox, Luca, Everly and Stone.
