Mike A. Jones

Mike A. Jones, age 76, of Nicholson, GA (formerly of Buford, GA) passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by parents, Russell and Jean Lankford Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Joyce Raines Jones; daughter, Kimberly (Todd) Reed; son, Joseph (Brittany) Turk all of Nicholson; grandchildren, Reghan, Hayden, Lillian; great grandchildren, Maxon, Enoch, Constantin; sisters, Jill Whitfield, Angela Jones and daughter Courtney Fitzgerald; brother, Richard Jones; sister-in-law, Ann Raines and daughter Aimee Smart; and numerous family members in the Macon Methodist Children's Home.
Mr. Jones was born on December 17, 1947 in Waycross, GA, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served for four years. He graduated in 1965 from Lanier High School in Macon, GA, in 1974 from Berry College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and then from the University of Georgia with a Master's Degree in Education and Administration. Mr. Jones was a former Vocational Director, Assistant Principal, and Assistant Superintendent in the Buford City School System under the leadership of Beauty Baldwin. He was the founder of M. Jones Contractors, and he was an avid woodworker, loved tractors, and was an avid Berry College supporter.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Andre Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and again on Monday, October 21 from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service at 4:00 p.m.
