Obituary provided by the family of Milton Day....
Milton Sherman Day passed in his home on June 26, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on March 15, 1945, in Winfield, Kansas to Phillip Jim Day and Elizabeth Javene Day (née Fulton). He spent his childhood working on the family farm and attending school. The family eventually moved to Neosho and Milton graduated from Neosho High School in 1963. He attended Pittsburg State University and then graduated from the University of Tulsa. Milton was a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner for decades, having opened his own business – Day & McGuire, P.C.
Milton is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Schroeder, who he married on June 21, 2001. He is also survived by his brother Lyndon Jon Day (Janie); his children, Brett Day (Chrissy), Blake Day (Teri), Matthew Day (Darrah), Julie Mageras (Dan), Sami LaRose, Cari Southern (Chad), Jackie Wilkins (Emily); eleven grandchildren, Michael, Abigail, Bailee (Ryan), Harrison, Theodore, Haden, Lydia, Nika, Daniel, Jackson, Hudson; and one great-grandson, Conway. Milton was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phillip Fulton Day.
Milton was a lifelong golfer, playing regularly at the Neosho Golf Course and every year at a father-son tournament in Kansas City. An avid fisherman, Milton spent his last years fishing or thinking about fishing. He took his last fishing trip to Lake Viking with his sons in May 2025. Milton was a lifelong conservative Republican and was known for his commonsense advice, "Murphy's out there"; "Don't be burnin' daylight"; and always "Work harder."
There will not be a funeral service, but a celebration of life will be announced in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Milton's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society c/o Clark Funeral Home P.O. Box 66, Neosho MO 64850.
