Mona Louise Wilging

Mona L. Wilging, 85, of Mansfield passed away peacefully surrounded by family July 18, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born at home November 28, 1938 in Perrysville, OH to Gilbert and Ethel Frontz, the youngest of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death. She primarily attended Lucas Schools, but finished her education at Ashland High School.
A lifelong Mansfield area resident, she married Walter Wilging April 13, 1957 spending 46 years together before his death in 2003. Intending to be a teacher, she started a certificate program through Bowling Green State University, but found herself more suited for motherhood, having five children in seven and a half years.
Mona was a long time member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church and an enthusiastic supporter of Mansfield Christian School. Although she never had an outside work career, she was helpmate for her husband's work and a wonderful mother and grandmother. If you visited her house unannounced it would be likely to find her nose buried in a book, answering questions on Jeopardy, or rooting for the Cleveland Indians. Many charitable organizations supporting animal welfare, Native American children, and military veterans will miss her support.
She is survived by three children, Scot and Amy Wilging and Mark and Sandy Kreuz of Mansfield and Sally Wilging and Deanna Springall of Cary, N.C.; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Steven and Stuart.
Friends may call Monday, July 22 from 4 to 7 pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Diamond Hills Baptist Church Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service, with Rev. Christopher Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mansfield Christian School. A special thanks to Hospice of North Central Ohio and our night time caregiver Linda for their support during this time.
