Myron Belongea, age 100, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 29, 2025 at New Perspectives. He was born April 29, 1925 in Kaukauna, WI, son of the late Isaac and Ella (Maldewin) Belongea and was a graduate of Kaukauna High School, Class of 1943.
Myron enlisted in the US Air Force in 1943, stationed in Ft. Meyers, FL. He served as a pilot and flew the P-51 Mustang. He proudly serving his country for 6 years until his honorable discharge in November of 1949. Myron was united in marriage with Elaine Dennis, March 2, 1946 at St. Patrick Church, Green Bay, WI, after a 6 month courtship. They shared 70 years of marriage before Elaine preceded him in death, August 8, 2016.
Myron was employed with Kraft Foods as an account executive, retiring in 1987 after over 3 decades of dedicated service.
Myron was deeply involved in his community and family life, serving as a Boy Scout Leader and participating in various camping trips and activities with his children. His faith played a central role in his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Agnes Parish. Additionally, Myron contributed to the Village of Howard Police and Fire Commission and was a long-standing member of the Allouez Town Band, where he showcased his talent for playing the trumpet. An avid bowler and golfer, Myron remained active in these sports well into his 90s. Fondly known as "Butch" and "Mike," he was cherished for his unique sense of humor and quick wit. He also relished spending time at the family cottage in Crivitz and passionately supported all Wisconsin sports teams, including the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and local high school teams.
Myron is survived by 4 children: Dennis (Linda) Belongea, Mike (Therese) Belongea, Jean (Jeff) Smith and Bob (Casey) Belongea. Myron also leaves behind 12 beloved grandchildren: Barb (Brian) Hamilton, Brad Belongea, Nicky (Shannon) VanLaanen, Bill (Kerry) Belongea, Leslie (Kurt) Nurczyk, Julie (Keith) Loeffler, Crystal (Jesse) Henrichs, Michelle Shahrouri, Kari (Jason) Pfefferkorn, Kate (Nick) Kummer, Andrew (Emily) Belongea and Kurt (Allison) Belongea; 15 great grandchildren and 3 siblings: Ruth VanderLoop, Marion Rife and George Belongea. He is further survived by a son-in-law, Arlin Freeman, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Freeman.
Visitation will be held at St. Agnes Parish (1484 9th St., Green Bay, WI), Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, with Fr. Quinn Mann, celebrant. Full military honors to follow. Entombment will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
Myron's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mary and the staff at New Perspectives and to the caregivers with Moments Hospice for their incredible care and compassion.
