Nancy Louise Fuller
Of Grand Marais, MI and formerly of Springport, MI passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the age of 86. Nancy was born on September 7, 1936, in Escanaba, MI the daughter of John and Cora (Allen) Wheeler. She was raised by her foster parents in Adrian, MI where she graduated class of 1954. Nancy was proud of her Native American heritage and was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa. She lived on the Ottawa-Chippewa Sutton's Bay Reservation where she led museum tours, taught school-age children about Native American culture, served on the board of elections, and sewed and beaded traditional native clothing and attire. She worked for many years as a seamstress but also did work in the hospitality industry as a bartender and waitress. Nancy loved to travel and when she wasn't in Michigan's upper peninsula, she enjoyed spending time in Surprise, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Abbott Fuller; great-granddaughters, Alysa Fuller and Susan Knight; son-in-law, Richard Fuller, and siblings, Lewis Wheeler, John Wheeler, Dorothy Johnson, and Morris Wheeler.
Surviving are her daughters, Jan Willeford, and Jackie (Larry) Porter; grandchildren, Sam (Deb) Fuller, Shelly (Mark) Proebstle, Shannon (Mark) Whittington; great-grandchildren, Samantha (Mitch) Snyder, Jack Proebstle, Valerie Proebstle, Allison Pierce, Samantha Whittington, Marci Whittington, Logan Willeford; siblings, Tom Armiga, Suzanne (Bobby) Gaslin, Alice Bessert, Barbe Wheeler, Mable Burns (Bobby) and numerous nieces and nephews.
