Neal T. Lovelette

Neal Thompson Lovelette, age 96, died on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his home in Stanhope, New Jersey.
Neal was born and raised in Richford, Vermont to the late Marshall Herbert and Susan Belle (Thompson) Lovelette. As an adult, Neal lived in Parsippany, NJ and Richford, VT prior to moving to Stanhope 15 years ago. Neal was a bright man and after graduating from Richford High School he attended University of Vermont briefly before joining the Navy. After his Navy service he returned to UVM to earn his bachelor's degree in engineering. Neal went on to have a long career as an engineer, first working for Bell Labs later, traveling the world with Western Electric. He was stationed in Iran for two years with Western Electric to help install that country's phone system. Neal finished his career owning Northland Hockey in Richford, VT.
Neal enjoyed being an active member of the Lions Club, AT&T Pioneers and was also a proud member of the American Legion, after serving his country up to, and including the Korean War. Neal had many interests, especially building and flying model airplanes and restoring antique clocks and music boxes. He loved his hometown of Richford, VT and was known for leading the restoration of the Corliss Fountain that was originally dedicated in 1920. He was most happy when he received the Golden Service Award from the town of Richford in 2011.
In addition to his parents, Neal is preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Lovelette, Frederick Lovelette, Marshall K. Lovelette; and his two sisters: Lillian Beth Wilde and Mary Jane Adley.
He is survived by his partner, Gloria Spencer; his nephews: Stephen Lovelette, Timothy Lovelette, William Adley, Peter Wilde; and nieces: Susan Rogers, Lynnda Bliss, Kathi Fischer and Patty Broe.
Visiting will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a funeral service immediately following visitation at 11:00 AM at Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main Street, Netcong, NJ 07857. There will be a remembrance service for Neal in Richford, VT in late spring or early summer.
